Important Steps to Become Successful Sooner

In this day and age, we tend to want things fast. From weight loss to internet speed to a response to your latest email or text, it’s all about instant gratification. This extends to the career sphere, too, where people tend to want to make money and become successful ASAP.

Truthfully, there’s no single secret hack that will make you successful overnight. However, there are certain proactive measures you can take in your career that can help you streamline your journey toward success. Try these tips to become successful faster:

1. Set concrete goals.

To become successful faster, you first need a road map for your career. After all, you can’t take shortcuts if there’s no end point in mind. The definition of success is different for everybody, so it’s important to get clear on your personal goals. What do you want to achieve in your career? Be as specific as you can, because it’s only when you’ve defined concrete goals that you can create actionable steps toward them.

Big, lon- term goals help you create a framework for your career. With goals in mind, you can create mini goals that act as achievable milestones. By setting the bar high, you’ll always have a source of motivation to work hard, which will help you become successful.

2. Establish a routine, and stick to it.

Most successful people already know this: There’s a big benefit to repetition. Routines keep you moving forward and help you to keep growing. For one thing, if you follow a routine, it’s much easier to monitor your progress over time.

For another, a routine helps you establish good habits that can advance your career fairly rapidly.

For instance, say your routine is to read publications related to your career path for an hour after dinner every night. If you set aside specific times for specific activities, after a while it will be like muscle memory. With positive routines in place, you often begin to see results quickly.

3. Find a mentor.

Many highly successful people have this in common: They had a mentor. A mentor is someone who is on the same career path as you, but further along. From a place of experience, they can offer relevant information and guidance on your chosen career path.

They can also guide you through things like how to avoid potential pitfalls, and how you might approach the next steps of your career. A mentor can often facilitate networking between you and others who can help further your career as well. Having a mentor can benefit you in many ways, and can absolutely help you find success faster than if you had no guidance.

4. Streamline your routine.

What if I told you that you could simplify your life and remove roadblocks that are keeping you from becoming successful by doing less? Positive routines can help you advance in your career faster. But bad habits and time-wasting routines can have the opposite effect. So how do you streamline your routine to remove the bad habits?

First, consider all the things that take up your time that are not helping to further your career. You know, things like checking Twitter every few minutes, or browsing on Amazon while you should be working. Once you’ve identified these time sponges, work hard to either eradicate them or at least keep them in check. It takes discipline to remove distractions, but you’ll be able to focus more, which will get you where you want to go career-wise a whole lot faster.

5. Learn how to say no.

Writer Herbert Bayard Swope mused, “I can't give you a surefire formula for success, but I can give you a formula for failure: Try to please everybody all the time.”

Saying yes is easy and it’s gratifying. But if you say yes to too much, it could be sucking you dry. If you’re a yes person, you’re probably agreeing to take on way too many projects and commitments. Or you’re the type of person who agrees readily to things and then flakes out at the last minute. Either way, these tendencies are not doing you any favors in terms of career advancement.

It can be hard to say no, but it is usually better in the long run. It shows integrity, and you won’t find yourself wasting time on things that aren’t advancing your career.

6. Be smart about money.

It’s hard to get ahead when you’re constantly playing catch-up or living paycheck to paycheck. If you want to become successful faster, you need to get smart about saving money.

Do yourself a solid and put away some of every paycheck in your savings account. Yes, it might be boring, but a little restraint now can add up to success in the not-too-distant future. Successful people often live below their means. This isn’t to be stingy, but because they know that it sometimes takes money to make money, and they want to be prepared.

When you are smart about saving money, you’ll be able to grow over time with a safety net. When it comes to making an investment or starting up a business venture, you’ll be ready to move quickly and do it without breaking the bank.

7. Learn from your mistakes.

As Truman Capote once wrote, “Failure is the condiment that gives success its flavor.” The more you venture out of your comfort zone as an entrepreneur, the higher the likelihood you have of making mistakes.

If you want to become successful, you can’t let these missteps crush or break you down. Rather than seeing them as the end of the world, can you see them as an opportunity? Ultimately, failures can be our biggest teachers. After all, what feels like failure today could in fact be teaching you a lesson that will help you avoid a much bigger failure in the future.

Focus on progress, not perfection. If you can learn from your mistakes, you’ll become stronger and more savvy, and this can help you become successful far faster.

Tips On Being Successful In Life

  1. Work out what success looks like to you – How would you measure success? What it does it mean to you and what does it look like? Sit down when you have clarity of mind and work out what you want to achieve in life. It is important to have a purpose in life you just have to work out your meaning to get there.
  2. Build your goals around this – In the corporate world they will tell you to have SMART goals. Specific, Measurable, Accountable, Realistic and Timely. However all you need to do is work out what you want and put it down on paper.
  3. Build your plan – If you walk around wondering about the meaning of life and not doing anything about it, you won’t actually get anywhere. So you need to put everything you want to do, have a timeline you want to achieve it by and then work towards them. They might change along the way, but at least this way you can measure your achievements towards this.
  4. Don’t give up and stay committed – You are going to come across hurdles along the way and also rejections, disasters and losses. Do not let these put you off, stay strong and committed to what you want to achieve and why you want to achieve it.
  5. Visualize it – manifestation is a great way to visualize what your ideal life will look like and when you have a plan and goals to achieve it is surprising how quickly these things will come to you.
  6. Socialize and meet others with similar interests – You never know who you are going to bump into in your daily life and what value they can add to your life. For me I met another guy in the pub I got talking to who was a millionairre and owned his own computer business. After serveral chats he gave me a job which put me onto the career ladder for IT which was were my career really took off.
  7. Have manners – It is surprising in todays age how little manners some people have. So if you have great manners and are polite and friendly it is amazing what other people will do to help you out.
  8. Use other people to your adavantage – This is not about taking advantage of people but as an example. You hear people moan about their managers all the time and they hate their job. Well I always get on well with the managers and work out what their pain points are, what keeps them up at night and what stresses them out. Once I have found out about these things, I proactively go and fix them for them. So who do you thin will get the next pay rise, me or the person who is complaining all the time.
  9. Find people who are already successful in your field – This is a great way to copy others who are already succeeding, most successful people will help you if they can seeyou are motivated, friendly, will give back and most of all will implement their advice.
  10. Stop any excuses – We all make excuses, but when you do, see that you are only putting off the inevitable. See everything you do in life as being a challenge not a problem and actively work to resolve them. When you go oh poo I’ll never be able to do it, you have just set the seed in your subconscious mind that can stop you moving forward. Rather than saying darnn it, this has happened, what can I do it about it, what if I do this, what if I do that. This way at a moment when you expect it, you will have clarity and the answer will pop right into your mind and help you correct the situation.
  11. Believe you can do anything – With the right education and environment, all of us are capably of doing anything. No one became good at anything without practice, so the aim is to learn from your mistakes, improve and never make the same mistake again.
  12. Be a good person – Yes a weird one I know, but who do you think someone would want to employ more, the talkative, outgoing, positive, friendly and kind person or the reserved, quiet, low mannered, unmotivated person? Yep it is not rocket science right, everyone wants to employ the right people, so the best you can be always.
  13. Keep learning – None of us know everything and our knowledge in any area can always be improved. So set aside time for learning more about your field, it is great for the brain and also your future.
  14. Be consistent – One of the hardest things in life is staying consistent in your endeavours. That is why you questions yourself everytime you should be going to the gym. These are just your minds way of playing games with you, so learn not to question yourself and just do the things you know you need to do and don’t put yourself off.
  15. Have lots of fun along the way – Life is eant to be enjoyable, we aren’t meant to sit on the settee being bored and letting life pass us by. Unless you see that as your success factor that this. Just get out there and have fun with people, have a laugh and enjoy everyday of your journey getting to where you want to be.
  16. Take risks – Yep if you want to learn how to be successfull in life, then you will have to take risks along the way. There will be some that work out and some that fail, but the last thing you want is think I should have done this, or I should have done that. When you learn to live with regrets and see them as a learning curve you will be able to keep moving forward in life.
  17. Reward yourself – When you succeed and you hit your goals it is important to recognize these important achievements and you should give yourself a massive pat on the back. Rewards and recognition in life are paramount to our own happiness.
  18. Help others and they will help you – I quite often see and I am sure you have too where people take others work and put their name to it. Do not do this, you should be unique and valued and so should everyone else. Adopt a team attitude and you will grow with others and not against them. You can amazing on your own but even more successful as a team , because everyone has their own unique skills to contribute to life, so don’t go upsetting anyone.
